Today I would like to raise some awareness on a very important subject.
Japanese whaling. Most of you have probably never heard of this but it's happening and more than 66,000 are whales killed per year, and the numbers only keep on rising. The only thing between the whales and a harpoon vessel is a group of activists guided by Paul Watson. They are known as The Sea Shepperd's. The Sea Shepperd's go on a campaign every whaling season. they track down the Nishu Maru and its harpoon vessels to stop whaling. They throw stink bombs on the deck to prevent the whalers to come out and hunt or process the meat.
The Japanese claim they have a permit for killing a certain amount of whales for research. (But then again how many whales do you need to research? have you seen the size of those things?)But the Sea Shepperd's claim they are killing more whales than permitted. Some of you may think its no big deal but, it is. Just imagine swimming for your life from something 1000 times your size , getting shot in the back with a harpoon gun , then choking on your blood for the next twenty five minutes. If you can handle that then you can say its no big deal. But if you agree that its no big deal than lets join togeter to help the sea sheperds
So what can we do to help?
If your 18 or older you can join the campaign and become a sea Shepperd at sea if your younger than you can attend event , tell your friends , ask your school principal to make an announcement to raise awarness.
